Volunteer opportunities exist throughout the hospital for both student
and adult volunteers. Volunteer hours are currently available both
morning and afternoon. Orientation and training is provided to familiarize
you with hospital policies and procedures, our facility and staff.
Opportunities
for Service
What are the
requirements for Student Volunteers?
Students must
be 15 years of age or older and commit to one
of the following programs:
- Fall
Program,
Students must commit to a minimum of 2 hours
per week
(3:30-5:30pm, and/or 4-6pm), October
1 through May
30; Or,
- Summer
Program,
Students are asked to commit to a four (4) hour shift, one
day per week
(9am-1pm and/or 1-5pm); June
1 through
August
15.
Note:
Weekend hours are available only to student volunteers who have
completed
50+ service hours.
What are the requirements for Adult Volunteers?
- Adult volunteers
must successfully complete the Orientation Program.
- Adults volunteer
at least one day per week; Monday - Friday;
9am-1pm and/or 1-5pm.
- Adult volunteers purchase their own uniform
and also pay auxiliary membership dues ($5.00/year).
Note: Weekend/evening hours are available only to volunteers
who have completed 50+ service hours. How do I become a volunteer?
- You may
call the Volunteer Office directly at 281-725-5253 to receive an application.
- Submit
the completed application.
- A representative
of the Volunteer Services Department will contact you to
confirm your participation
in the
Orientation Program.
Volunteer Benefits
Volunteering
provides the opportunity for an individual to utilize their
talents and skills and acquire new
ones. Volunteers are also
provided with a complimentary lunch (before/after their four hour
shift). Upon request, Volunteer Services will provide a written
letter of recommendation for all volunteers who serve
a minimum of 50 hours.
We will also provide documentation of volunteer hours for school,
work or college transcripts.
