Volunteer: Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center - Year-round Adult Program

Volunteer

Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center &
Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital

Year-round Adult Program

For adults (those 18 and over) interested in becoming volunteers at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center or Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital, there are many opportunities available.

We require that you commit at least 3 hours each week, for a minimum of six months.

Volunteers will begin their service in our Supplemental Paths program, where the first 15-60 hours of volunteer work will be spent doing a number of different activities that will help orient you to the layout and services provided by the hospital. Once 15 hours have been served, you may request an assignment in a particular area of the hospital. If your schedule matches the needs of the unit in which you wish to volunteer, you will be trained and continue your service in that placement. Opportunities for cross-training are available, and encouraged.

You may volunteer on the weekends once your Supplemental Paths (training period) is through, but you may not BEGIN volunteering on the weekends or after 5 p.m. Your first 15 hours must be served while the Volunteer Services staff is here to assist you. Once you have become more familiar with the hospital, you may change your schedule to include weekends and/or evenings. Adults may apply at any time during the year. All prospective volunteers must pass a criminal background check. Prospective volunteers must also visit Memorial Hermann’s Occupational Health Department for a TB Screening and a Drug Screening (TB Skin test and drug screen are provided free of charge).
