The Breast Care Center at Southwest is committed to providing a comprehensive, state-of-the-art screening and diagnostic facility for patients. The Center offers a range of services for use in the diagnosis of breast cancer.

An important first step in breast care is the mammogram. The Center provides some of the latest technology available to assist in diagnosis, including:

• A mammography system that uses low-level X-rays to locate breast lumps and abnormalities, with less discomfort, long before they can be felt.
• Official Softer Mammogram Provider
• Use of ultrasound, with high-frequency sound waves, to determine whether a lesion is a solid tumor or a fluid-filled cyst - especially useful in evaluating suspicious areas in the denser breast tissue of younger women.
• Use of Sono-CT EXRes®, the latest in ultrasound technology, allows radiologists to detect tumors as small as 2 to 3 millimeters in size.

A dedicated and compassionate staff specializing in diseases of the breast includes board-certified, specialized breast radiologists and ultrasound specialists.
