Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital has ‘Tree Topping’

Memorial Hermann Fort Bend employees celebrate the completion of structural steel work on the new Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital. To commemorate the event, employees sign the steal beam that will become a permanent part of the hospital structure.

Missouri City, Texas, December 28, 2005 – Employees of Memorial Hermann Fort Bend celebrated the topping off of the new Memorial Hermann Sugar Land on December 15. Gathered under a large tent adjacent to the existing hospital, employees enjoyed lunch while Memorial Hermann President and CEO Dan Wolterman and Memorial Hermann Fort Bend CEO Rod Brace offered brief remarks.

The topping-off ceremony for Memorial Hermann Sugar Land was complete with the hoisting of the traditional fir tree to the top of the hospital structure.

“I know how excited you are about your new facility and how excited the community is at knowing this state of the art facility will be here for them,” said Wolterman, “You’ve done a tremendous job here at Fort Bend and I know you will continue providing the best care available for our patients at the new Memorial Hermann Sugar Land campus once it’s completed.”

On Friday, December 16, the construction crew hoisted the traditional fir tree to the top of the structure. The tree was attached to a steel beam which was signed by hospital employees and will become a permanent part of the hospital structure.

A five-story, 125,000-square-foot medical office tower is also being constructed on the 27-acre campus, located on the northwest corner of Highway 59 and the Grand Parkway, and is scheduled to open in mid-2006.  The new hospital is scheduled for completion in late 2006.
