New Cash Clinic Offers Low-Cost Flu Shots and Relieves Crowded ERs
Houston, Texas,
October 27, 2003 -- In an effort to relieve emergency
room overcrowding and reduce wait times for non-emergency care, Physicians
of Texas, Inc. and Memorial Hermann Healthcare System now offer a convenient,
affordable alternative. At the Neighborhood Health Center in Southwest
Houston, services for everyday healthcare needs like colds and flu
and well child check-ups are priced to work for people who may not
have insurance. The storefront clinic, located at 8150-C Southwest
Freeway at Beechnut, is open seven days a week and charges a flat fee
of $45 for office visits.
“We believe
that the need is tremendous,” said Chips Adams, Memorial
Hermann director of outpatient clinics. “In addition to routine
office visits, such as well child check-ups and physicals, the clinic
offers an appropriate alternative to emergency center care for non-urgent
conditions.”
Lab tests and injections are among the services that require additional,
nominal charges.
The clinic accepts
cash, checks and most major credit cards and is open Monday through
Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and weekends
from
9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Appointments are recommended. To schedule an appointment
or for more information, call the Neighborhood Health Center at 713-981-1605.
