Ratings for Patient Satisfaction Earned by Memorial Hermann Children's
Hospital
Houston,
Texas – A family centered approach to patient care pushed patient-satisfaction
scores for Memorial
Hermann Children’s Hospital into the nation’s
top 2 percent. The scores come from the most recent results documented
by Press Ganey Associates, the country’s leading independent
healthcare satisfaction measurement company.
Compared with 55
other children’s hospitals nationwide, Memorial Hermann
Children’s Hospital ranked in the 98th percentile. The scores are based
on patient-satisfaction surveys taken June through August 2005.
“It’s
especially hard for children and their families to come to a hospital,
and we do everything we can to make that experience a positive one,” said
Steve Allen, M.D., MBA, CEO of Memorial Hermann Children’s Hospital. “One
of the things we do is to create an environment in which the needs of children
and their families are not only met but anticipated in a caring and highly
professional manner. And that naturally leads to high patient satisfaction
scores.”
To create such
an environment, input is continually sought from patients, their
families and staff members.
One recent addition
that helps add fun to the healing process is the newly opened Hollywood
Video Starlight
Site. Developed through a partnership
with Hollywood
Video and the Starlight Starbright Foundation, the site includes a movie
theater, videogame and computer stations, a lounge area and a large,
colorful fish tank.
