Memorial City Medical Opens as Part of Memorial Hermann Medical Group
Houston, Texas, September 12, 2006 – Members of Memorial City Medical, the latest physician practice to join Memorial Hermann Medical Group, bring nearly 80 years of combined primary care experience to patients in the Memorial City area.
All four members of Memorial City Medical are board certified in either family or internal medicine. Practices that are a part of Memorial Hermann Medical Group allow physicians to focus on each patient’s personal healthcare needs while drawing on the resources, innovations and technological advancements of a well-respected healthcare system.

“We are delighted to have Memorial City Medical join this growing enterprise,” said Ernest Bartimmo, M.D., medical director of Memorial Hermann Medical Group and a member of Memorial City Medical. “Memorial Hermann Medical Group allows doctors to spend more time practicing medicine and less time worrying about running businesses. By emphasizing the strengths of the partners, the patient is the ultimate winner.”
The physicians will continue to treat existing patients and grow their practice while Memorial Hermann Medical Group handles business functions such as billing, collections, insurance reimbursement contracts, medical records maintenance and information technology.
Members of Memorial City Medical are:
- Ernest Bartimmo, M.D. – Internal Medicine. Texas Monthly recognized Dr. Bartimmo as a Texas Super Doctor for 2006. He most recently served as the clinical director of Baylor College of Medicine’s General Medicine Service. With more than 38 years of experience, Dr. Bartimmo is board certified in internal medicine and pulmonary diseases and has extensive understanding of disease prevention and executive wellness programs. He is a graduate of Georgetown University Medical School in Washington, D.C.
- Jon L. Peterson, M.D. – Family Medicine. A graduate of The University of Texas Medical School at Houston, Dr. Peterson has specialized in family practice and preventative care for the last 26 years. He is also a co-host of the “Houston Health Hour” radio program on KSEV 700AM.
- Julia C. Hope, M.D. – Internal Medicine. Dr. Hope is a graduate of The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Board certified in internal medicine, Dr. Hope practices preventive healthcare as well as general adult medicine.
- Todd L. Hamel, M.D. – Family Medicine. A family physician, Dr. Hamel provides comprehensive care for children and adults in hypertension, diabetes, skin/soft tissue surgery, preventive health and wellness, cardiac and mental health care, as well as travel and sports medicine. Dr. Hamel is a graduate of The University of Texas Medical School at Houston and completed his family practice residency at Oregon Health & Science University.
