Memorial Hermann Northwest Employee Receives Top Honor from Memorial Hermann Healthcare System

Houston, Texas, September 6, 2006 - Leadership skills, a passion for teaching and a strong commitment to patient advocacy earned Memorial Hermann Northwest employee Annie Harbor-Scales, R.N., the Robert C. Hanna Quality of Caring Award for 2006.

Harbor-Scales, a 33-year veteran of Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital, is clinical manager of the facility’s surgical patient care unit.

“Annie is respected by staff throughout the hospital as well as by physicians,” said Chief Nursing Officer Melanie Fox at Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital. “Her work ethic, tenacity and compassion have impacted many lives.”

Harbor-Scales serves on hospital task forces and committees focused on educating nurses and patients and on continually improving quality of care and patient safety.

The honor is given each year to one outstanding direct caregiver among Memorial Hermann Healthcare System's 17,000 employees. The award was established in 1993 by Imperial/Holly Sugar Co. to honor their retiring CEO, Robert C. Hanna, who is also a former board chairman of the Memorial Healthcare System. The winner must exhibit leadership, compassion, caring and commitment.
