Outpatient Surgery Center Opens at Memorial Hermann Medical Plaza in Sugar Land
Houston,
Texas, August 30, 2006 – The latest development on Memorial Hermann’s Sugar Land campus is a conveniently located and well-equipped outpatient surgery center within the new Medical Plaza.
The new center offers a broad array of outpatient procedures for patients who don’t require an overnight stay. It includes four operating rooms and two suites specially equipped for minimally invasive endoscopic procedures. The surgical center is a joint venture between Memorial Hermann, physicians and United Surgical Partners International (USPI), which manages the facility.
The new facility offers a variety of surgeries and medical procedures including gastroenterology, gynecology, orthopedics, plastic surgery, podiatry, urology and ear-nose-throat procedures as well as general surgery.
"We are very pleased to offer these services to the community,” said Dale Flowers, CEO of Memorial Hermann Fort Bend and Sugar Land campuses. “Memorial Hermann Sugar Land, our physician partners and USPI will leverage each others’ strengths and expertise to ensure that high-quality, convenient and efficient care is provided to our patients needing outpatient services."
The new Medical Plaza opened in June at the corner of Grand Parkway and Highway 59. Other features include laboratory services, an imaging center and Memorial Hermann Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation as well as physician office space. A sleep disorders center will open in late 2006.
The five-story Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital will open next door in December. The full-service, acute-care hospital will include 77 private rooms plus 16 emergency center beds.
