Memorial Hermann Northwest Receives Cancer Accreditation Renewal from the American College of Surgeons

Houston, Texas, August 4, 2006 – Memorial Herman Northwest Hospital has again earned national accreditation as a Cancer Center. The designation recognizes that the hospital’s physicians, staff and processes meet stringent criteria set forth by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.

“The Memorial Hermann Northwest Cancer Center is dedicated to providing the highest level of quality care to our patients. For this, we are proud to receive continued recognition from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer,” said Dr. T.F. Tenczynski, medical director of the Memorial Hermann Northwest Cancer Center.

Approval by the Commission of Cancer is given only to those facilities that have voluntarily committed to providing quality cancer care and that undergo rigorous evaluation process and review of their performance. To maintain approval, the Commission on Cancer must undergo an on-site review every three years.

The Memorial Hermann Northwest Cancer Center offers a full array of multidisciplinary services in one location—expanded treatment facilities, pain management, surgical services, radiation therapy and nutritional and laboratory services. In addition to the full range of diagnostic and treatment services, the center also offers psychological services, genetic counseling and continuous interdisciplinary rounds and conferences.

Patients may also take advantage of the resource and education center, a specialized library developed to help patients research their disease and find additional support services through literature, videos and Internet access.
