Saturday update regarding “Bum” Phillips

Houston, Texas, July 16, 2005 – Retired coach O.A. “Bum” Phillips was released from Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital today following his July 8 triple-vessel bypass surgery. Bum’s progress has been right on schedule. He will continue to participate in a cardiac rehabilitation program that is a standard course of treatment.

Bum headed home to his ranch where he usually spends lots of time driving a bulldozer, In fact, he was given a remote-control, toy-sized version as a get-well gift while hospitalized. Accompanying the electronic plaything were doctor’s orders not to play with any bulldozers besides that one for the next 30 days.
