With
the expansion, the facility’s number of operating rooms
increases from 23 suites to 39. Additionally, the new ORs are 45
percent larger then the existing (original rooms are 504 square feet
and the
new rooms are 736 square feet). Every new OR suite also has audio
and visual record capability with super-focus Steris “Harmony” surgical
lighting enabling doctors to create flawless CDs on the spot for
later use in teaching.
Along with the
opening of the new ORs, Memorial Hermann Children’s
Hospital opened new pediatric areas designed to relieve and comfort
smaller patients before and after surgery through a friendly décor
of pastels and a wide-range of activities.
