Cancer Center Celebrates Survivors

The Memorial Hermann Cancer Center Northeast held its 18th Annual Holiday Celebration Dec. 12 in honor of those who have survived the fight against cancer. Donnald G. McMannes, mayor of the City of Humble, read a Proclamation claiming Dec. 12, 2007, as Memorial Hermann Cancer Center Northeast Day.
Some stats of the center are:
- Has served the Greater Humble Area since 1989
- Has been accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer since 1992
- Started the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life in the Humble/Kingwood community in 1996
- Has been providing Community Cancer Screenings since 1992
- Has had an active Breast Cancer Support Group since 1989
- Has received major grants from the Susan G Komen Foundation and the Kingwood Women's Club in support of Memorial Hermann Cancer Center Northeast's Project Mammogram
- Provides the following American Cancer Society Programs
- Community Resource Center with Internet access
- Look Good, Feel Better Program
- Reach to Recovery
- Over 4,000 patients treated since 1989
