Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center has one of only two Level-1 trauma centers in Houston. Committed to treating trauma patients, the Spine Program offers specialized care for patients suffering from traumatic spine injury, including the 10 to 20 percent that involve neurological damage.

At the forefront of research, Rex Marco, M.D., an assistant professor of the department of orthopedic surgery at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston, and Vivek Kushwaha, M.D., UT clinical assistant professor of orthopedic surgery, are joint chiefs of Memorial Hermann’s Spine Surgery Service. Their team is expert in the treatment of spinal trauma patients.
