The Gamma Knife® Radiosurgery device |
Described as "brain surgery without a knife," this revolutionary treatment is available in the Texas Medical Center only at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, one of two locations in Houston. The procedure precisely focuses hundreds of high-intensity beams of gamma radiation on tumors and blood vessel abnormalities.
It is used to treat benign and cancerous tumors, arteriovenous malformations and trigeminal neuralgia in which lesions are 3 centimeters or less in diameter. Surrounding tissue is left virtually unaffected.

The success rate for Gamma Knife® radiosurgery is high – normally, only one treatment is necessary and patients resume their normal activities the following day. The procedure is safe, quick and painless, with costs that are normally up to 50 percent lower than conventional brain surgery. Complications and recovery time are also greatly reduced.
Our team of medical specialists – neurosurgeons, radiation oncologists, physicists and registered nurses – has extensive experience in Gamma Knife® technology |
