Children’s Ophthalmology Department provides outpatient treatment in the University of Texas Professional Building. We provide care for the most common pediatric ophthalmology problems, including nearsighted and farsighted children, as well as rare and complex disorders.

Helen Mintz-Hittner, MD, is one of only six ophthalmologists in the United States who treats retinopathy of prematurity using telemedicine. She receives images of preterm infant eyes through e-mail and determines the need for laser therapy as a cure for the disorder, which can cause blindness in neonatal infants.
Mintz-Hittner is also the medical staff pediatric ophthalmologist at the Memorial Hermann Eye Center .
