Classes
The curriculum includes
classroom and clinical experiences. Major subject areas are anatomy
and physiology, specimen collection techniques, specimen transportation
and processing, and lab operations related to phlebotomy such as quality
assurance, safety, infection control, interpersonal relations, and professional
ethics.
Clinical experiences
take place at Memorial Hermann facilities in both inpatient and outpatient
settings.
A certificate of
completion is awarded to each student who successfully completes the
program. Upon completion, the student is also eligible to apply for
a national phlebotomy certification examination.

Salaries vary depending
on the setting, shift, position, experience, and area of the country.
An entry-level phlebotomist usually starts at approximately $9.00/hour.
