Medical Missions also:
- Serves as a clearinghouse
that keeps an agenda of similar trips being planned by other organizations,
so volunteers can learn about other opportunities.
- Offers many ways
for individuals to volunteer locally, including answering telephones,
packing supplies or assisting with fund-raising.
- Provides emergency
relief in times of crisis, including collecting and distributing nonperishable
food items and clothing and furnishing shelter or medical services.
In such instances, volunteers are needed, often on short notice.
Medical Missions
frequently partners with organizations to accomplish its mission worldwide
and in the local community. Two of these, Project Cure/Medical Benevolent Foundation and Medical Bridges are equipped to transport heavy equipment and/or supplies from locations such as doctors’ offices and medical buildings.
